The Beaches

The Costa Del Sol is famous for its miles of sandy beaches and Torrox shares those beaches.

It takes just a 5 minute drive or bus ride down to the resort of Torrox Costa with its 8 km of beach and the promenade. The promenade is full of restaurants from the light house to the Rui Hotel. Fresh fish in abundance in the Spanish restaurants, plus you will find Chinese, Italian and Mexican cuisine.

There is an English bar on the costa called ‘The Lord Byron’ if you are missing your Sunday Roast or just want to watch the footie on a large screen! There are plenty of sunbeds on Torrox beach at a cost of 3-4 euro per day plus parasol. The beds behind the Rui Hotel are the comfy and there is a shower, changing cubicle and massage available! Walk along to the right of the Rui (looking out to sea) and there are volleyball courts and football pitches too. A little further and you will come to a small restaurant (a Chiringuito) on the beach that barbeques fresh fish all day. Very friendly, very Spanish and very cheap! Walk along the new ‘paseo’ and you will find more small beach restaurants and plenty of seats to stop and people watch along the way!.

If you head out along the coast road or motorway to Nerja (about 7 km or 10 mins drive) the largest beach is Playa Burriana. As you enter Nerja at the bottom roundabout, follow signs for PARADOR and then you will see brown signs for Playa Burriana. This beach has restaurants all along and sun beds etc. You should try world famous ‘AYO’s’ Paella cooked in huge pans on the beach! The best on the Costa Del Sol, but beware it gets busy with the Spanish on Sundays!.
